These files may be either downloaded and then played or streamed, that is played as they download. The advantage of the former is that you can store the file on your computer and play it repeatedly; the advantage of the latter is that you don't have to wait for the download to complete.
Note:
For downloading: These files are ~4-8 Megabytes; to download on a 56kbps modem can take up to an hour.
For streaming: Their sampling rate is 32 kbps; this means that on a link slower than this playback will repeatedly stop to re-buffer.
